Who is it?
N°1 worldwide in mineral nitrogen fertilizers, Yara is a Norwegian chemical group present in 60 countries with 17,800 employees and 2023 sales of $15.6 billion. In Europe, Yara operates 18 production sites, including 3 in France (Seine-Maritime, Gironde and Loire-Atlantique) employing 430 people. 48% of the world’s population is fed by mineral nitrogen fertilizers.
Which cause?
Sovereignty of the French food chain and decarbonization.
In France, 60% of nitrogen fertilizers are imported, and the situation has become even more fragile since the Ukrainian conflict. Sustained domestic production would guarantee sufficient agricultural yields and virtuous production technologies. This decarbonization is essential if we are to contribute to climate neutrality and achieve a more sustainable food system. Yara, a proactive player, has 3 plants in France at the forefront of decarbonization initiatives. By 2030, 30% of Yara’s fertilizers will be decarbonized to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
What strategy?
Yara operates in a highly sensitive and complex legislative, regulatory, legal and reputational context. Our strategy is based on assuming the beneficial role of the company in agricultural, industrial and environmental matters. The cornerstone of this is the Solution’ÈRE program, “solutions for development and decarbonization”. Our mission covers watch, corporate, public affairs, media relations, content, social media, trade shows, crisis, executive coaching, training, etc., and positions Yara as a key player in the fields of industrial sovereignty, food sovereignty and decarbonization.
What results?
Yara has established itself as a major player and contributor in the political, economic and media spheres. Numerous meetings with the Head of State, members of the government, members of parliament, the media, and players in agriculture, industry and research have enabled us to make decisive progress in our cause.
